Ron Mueck

Seoul

Australian-born sculptor Ron Mueck will hold his first Asian show at the Seoul branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in April. Organized in partnership with France’s Foundation Cartier, the show will feature a total of 30 pieces, including 10 of Mueck’s best-known sculptures and miscellaneous photographs and documentaries.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia ‒ A Conversation

Discover more than 60 pieces by Pablo Picasso and around 80 pieces by Asian diasporic artists specially chosen by the M+ art museum. This is the first time that Picasso’s standout artworks from the Picasso Museum in France are being exhibited alongside the collection of an Asian museum. It represents an unprecedented intercultural and intergenerational conversation between this 20th century European master and the Asian artists of today.

Alcova 2025

Milan

Alcova, a must-see highlight of Milan Design Week, is holding several site-specific exhibitions. The platform is turning abandoned sites into showcases of curated items that maximize the appeal of each setting. This year, the platform is adding on the Pasino Glasshouses and the former SNIA Factory.

City of Others: Asian Artists in Paris

This exhibition showcases the cultural exchange and artistic innovation of Asian artists in Paris in the early 20th century. Paintings, sculptures, lacquerware and rare archival records show how major artists such as Foujita Tsuguharu, Liu Kang and Sanyu found inspiration in a foreign land.

Pirouette: Turning Points in Design

The spotlight here is on moments of decisive change in the history of design from the 1930s until the present day. These are examples of how human behavior can be changed by innovative departures from conventional
assumptions about design. Visitors can learn about icons of design who transcended their era,
including innovative furniture designer Eileen Gray and pioneering digital firm Apple.

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival

Coachella, which launched in 1999, is considered to be the biggest music festival in North America. This year’s festivities will be held in Indio, California. Festival headliners include such superstars as Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott. K-pop will also be well represented on stage by boy band ENHYPEN and Jennie and Lisa from BLACKPINK, among others.

Walpurgis Night

Walpurgis Night is a traditional holiday celebrated in Central and Northern Europe. Falling on April 30, this was said to be the night that a witches’ sabbath was held in Germany. Many Europeans make bonfires and dance around the flames to celebrate the coming of spring. Walpurgis Night events can be enjoyed around the Havis Amanda statue in Helsinki, Finland; Kurpark Schierke and other areas around the Brocken in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt; and the Skansen open-air museum in Stockholm, Sweden.

Waltz in Vienna

Waltz in Vienna: 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Johann Strauss II

This year celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of legendary composer Johann Strauss II. The melodious strains of his waltzes will energize Vienna as never before. Tracing the life of this great composer alongside hundreds of concert goers is a singular pleasure available in Vienna.

House of Strauss

Johann Strauss Museum Vienna

Put on a GPS-equipped pair of headphones and browse through this 900m2 immersive exhibition for a profound introduction to the life of Johann Strauss II. Waltz melodies resound through an elegant Art Deco building designed by architects Hermann Aichinger and Heinrich Schmid back in 1923.

Tongyeong International Music Festival

The coastal city of Tongyeong hosts the Tongyeong International Music Festival each spring and fall. This concert series has been dubbed the “Salzburg Festival of Asia.” This spring’s festival will help bridge the contemporary music of Asia and Europe from March 28 to April 6. This is your chance to hear some of Korea’s best-known artists, including Yunchan Lim, Jaram Lee and Yekwon Sunwoo.

Nation of Instant Noodles

For those visiting Korea this spring, don’t miss this chance to sample various flavors of ramen (instant noodles) at the World Ramen Festival. Running from April 4 to 13 around Busan North Port, the event will showcase instant noodles consumed around the world. Ramen lovers can also check out the Korea International Ramen Fair held in Seoul, at Coex Magok Lewest, between April 4 to 6.

K-Royal Culture Festiva

The K-Royal Culture Festival returns this spring, from April 26 to May 5, inviting visitors to savor some of Seoul’s finest cultural sites, including the five major palaces and Jongmyo Shrine. Cultural and artistic programs— including concerts, exhibitions, activities and ritual reenactments— are tailored to various structures and sites within each of the palaces. Some of the highlights include palace music concerts at Changdeokgung Palace and a K-heritage marketplace at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
