Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, Pontus Hulten
At times, art is born of love, friendship and struggle. The artistic alliance between artists Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, and museum director Pontus Hulten was sometimes playful and sometimes radical, impacting the art world of the twentieth century. This exhibition is bursting with dynamic artwork, including paintings created with gunshots, machines designed to self-destruct, and joyful acts of rebellion against institutions and authority. London
Serpentine Pavilion 2025
Each summer, the Serpentine Pavilion is constructed and displayed in London’s Kensington Gardens, an exercise in architectural experimentation that’s closely observed by the world of design. This year, the pavilion has been entrusted to Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum. Known for focusing on projects that are local and sustainable, Tabassum has built everything from low-cost housing to public architecture that accounts for the climate crisis.
Her pavilion, Capsule in Time, features four lightweight timber arches clad in transparent panels, arranged to form a courtyard around a central tree. Some modules can be moved, allowing the space to shift and adapt. Inspired by the Bengal Delta, where homes are often relocated due to floodwaters from the Himalayas, the design reflects her belief that “architecture becomes memories of lived spaces continued through tales.” Marking the 25th anniversary of the Serpentine Pavilion, Capsule in Time is both a gathering place and a meditation on how architecture can preserve memory in a changing world.
