Exhibitions on the Radar
Here are some must-see exhibitions for art and culture lovers.
Cairo
Grand Egyptian Museum
On November 1, 2025, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) celebrated its official grand opening, after numerous delays since its groundbreaking in 2005. Located on a sprawling 500,000m2 site approximately 2km from the Giza pyramid complex, GEM now stands as the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. The museum houses a breathtaking collection of over 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts, with approximately 57,000 on display. Perhaps the most anticipated highlight is the complete collection of over 5,000 treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb, including his magnificent gold funerary mask, now exhibited together in a single space for the first time since their discovery in 1922.
More than just a repository of ancient treasures, GEM has been designed as a multifaceted cultural institution, integrating research, education and cultural engagement. Various spaces throughout
the museum are infused with natural light, including the Grand Hall where visitors can marvel at the colossal statue of Ramses II. From the windows at the top of the Grand Stairs, a stunning view of the Giza pyramids awaits. GEM also houses conservation laboratories, a children’s museum and a space where visitors can explore the story behind the origins of the pyramids through immersive technology.

Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026
The 25th Winter Olympic Games will open on February 6, 2026. Returning to Italy for the first time in 20 years since the 2006 Torino Games, the event will run through February 22, bringing together over 90 nations competing for 116 gold medals across eight sports and 16 disciplines.
The official name, Milano Cortina 2026, reflects a multi-venue format that signals a shift away from building large-scale new infrastructure in a single host city. Competition venues stretches across multiple regions of northern Italy including Milan, Verona and the town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, located within the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage site.
Unfolding against the majestic backdrop of the Italian Alps, traditional snow and ice events will take place alongside the Olympic debut of ski mountaineering, which combines elements of Alpine and cross-country skiing with an ascent, descent and an on-foot section. The Winter Olympics has long served as a cultural gathering as much as a sporting event, shaped by the season and the landscapes that host it. In 2026, fans from around the world will once again come together to experience the unifying power of sport.
