The Garden of Light, Giverny

The landscape of Giverny is woven with light. Here, Claude Monet sought to capture the fleeting moments of light as they danced upon the water, their hues shifting with the turn of the seasons. Today, we can still bathe in the light that lingers from his time.

  • Jonathan Bertin a photographer from Normandy, France, is a visual artist who reframes Impressionist sensibilities through the medium of photography, capturing the fluid shifts of light and color. While his work is inspired by the way 19th-century Impressionist painters captured light and color on canvas, he moves beyond painterly imitation, expanding these ideas through the movement and temporality inherent in photography. He describes ordinary moments as “ultra-ordinary,” a rediscovery of the everyday, inviting us to see familiar landscapes and fleeting moments with new eyes.
