The 20th Asian Games
The 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), Asia’s premier multi-sport event, take place over 16 days from September 19 to October 4. Co-hosted by Japan’s Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, this year’s games mark the first Summer Asian Games held in Japan in 32 years since the 1994 Hiroshima Games. Athletes from 45 nations or regions will compete for glory across 43 different sports. Both the opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya.
The Games also draw the spotlight for their new venues and an increasingly diverse lineup of disciplines. The IG Arena (Aichi International Arena), which opened in 2025, will host basketball and judo, while select events will be distributed across neighboring regions including Tokyo and Shizuoka. Following its debut at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, esports returns as an official medal sport featuring a record-breaking 11 disciplines. Making its debut at this year’s Asian Games, a new fighting game category combines Street Fighter 6, Tekken and The King of Fighters into a single team competition. A major solo exhibition brings together the career-spanning works of Do Ho Suh, one of Korea’s definitive installation artists. It offers a comprehensive survey of his creative universe — from early creations and signature pieces to ongoing projects. Questions surrounding migration, dwelling, the individual and the collective fill the gallery, physically embodied in translucent fabric works. Visitors are invited to wander through the exhibition space, embarking on a uniquely personal experience of projecting their own memories and life stories onto the pieces.

A Chair and You
Around 150 chairs exploring sculptural beauty beyond mere function take center stage. American theater director Robert Wilson transformed the exhibition space by marrying light, sound and scenography with selections from the Thierry Barbier-Mueller collection, considered one of the most important private chair collections. Blending organic forms, unexpected materials and lines and colors of Modernist architecture, the space invites viewers to perceive the humble chair through a fresh lens.

Monet, Painting Time
This special exhibition created by the Musée de l’Orangerie commemorates the centenary of Claude Monet’s passing. Focusing on the overarching relationship of time woven throughout his oeuvre, the exhibition retraces the painter’s artistic evolution, spanning his early works and the fragmentation of time captured in his Rouen Cathedral, The Haystacks and The Poplars series, through to his Water Lilies series where fleeting moments merge into a singular, continuous flow. Amidst light, seasons, repetition and variation, visitors encounter both the transience and eternity Monet sought to capture.

RM × SFMOMA: Between You and Me
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presents RM × SFMOMA: Between You and Me, featuring BTS leader RM’s private collection. Echoing his hope to build a “small but sturdy bridge” between East and West — as well as the individual and the world — the exhibition brings together 200 works from his collection and the museum’s archive. Visitors will see modern and contemporary Korean artists such as Yun Hyongkeun, Park Rehyun and Kwon Okyon alongside Western masters like Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse.

Under this year’s theme, “Memories in Masks, A Dance for All,” the festival encompasses mask traditions from Korea and abroad, including the World Mask Dance Competition and the Daedong Nanjang, a lively mask dance parade. Visitors can also explore Hahoe Village to view traditional masks that have been passed down for generations, offering an even richer experience of Andong’s unique heritage and culture.

This regional cultural festival celebrates Jeongseon Arirang, designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Beginning with the Chilhyun ritual ceremony honoring seven local sages, the festival comes alive across a vibrant program which includes an Arirang parade and folk performances as well as a national singing competition.
